Riske Blows Another Game

Another Meltdown

If David Riske was an Italian chef, his speciality would be meatballs. On Monday night, a 4-7 loss to the White Sox, Riske surrendered his third homerun of the year.
Sure, the box score says that Jimmy Gobble got the loss, but he didn't earn the "L." Gobble came in to the game in the 8th inning with the score tied at 3-3 to be a lefty specialist against Jim Thome. Thome hit a single right up the middle. Buddy Bell promptly removes Gobble and brings in a righty, David Riske, to face Paul Konerko. With the count 2-2, Riske lofts his speciality, a meatball, right down the center of the plate and Konerko easily deposits the ball over the left field fence giving the White Sox the lead for good.
Granted the rest of the bullpen wasn't very good either...the bullpens stats from Monday night: two innings, four runs, four hits and three walks.
I just expect more from David Riske, not much, but more. He's a veteran pitcher who was brought in to be the setup guy and help the Royals maintain a lead in the late innings and he has done anything but that. He has become a firefighter that uses kerosene instead of water to fight a fire.
